DNV Rules & standards on tablets and mobile devices

DNV's "Rules & standards Online" is a library of PDF-files, in which you click (or tap) links to download individual documents to your device. The library works well on mobile devices with an internet connection. For Android devices, you can install an app which gives you instant online access. For iOS devices - iPad and iPhone, you will have to create a bookmark icon on your home screen with a few manual operations.

iPad and iPhone

On an Apple device, you will have to create a bookmark icon on the home screen. Follow these steps:

• Open the web browser - Safari. Go to http://exchange.dnv.com/publishing/.

• Tap the Share button - (On the iPad, it's next to Safari's web address field. On the iPhone, it's at the bottom of the Safari screen.)
• Tap "Add to Home Screen"
  
• In the "Add to Home" window, you may want to type a title of your choice. E.g., "Rules Online".
  Tap "Add" on the "Add to Home" window.
  
• You should now have an icon on your home screen, looking like this:
  

We recommend Apple's iBooks app to read PDF files. iBooks can be installed free of charge from the iTunes App Store. In iBooks, the documents you have downloaded are available also when your device is not connected to a network. iBooks is also a good tool for organizing the documents.

Android devices

In Google play (previously named "Android Market"), search for "DNV Rules". You should find the app called "DNV Rules and Standards". After installing the app, you should have an icon on your home screen, which takes your web browser to "Rules & standards Online". Note that you need to have internet access when using the app.

When you tap on a link to a document, you will be prompted to save it. Tap "OK" (to save), and the document will be downloaded to your device. Using "My Files", look for the document in the folder "Download" (/Root/Download).

Use your favourite PDF viewer to open a downloaded document. A good PDF viewer is "ezPDF Reader", available in Google play at a small fee.
