   If any person suffers loss or damage which is proved to have been caused by any negligent act or omission of DNV, then DNV shall pay compensation to such person for his proved direct loss or damage. However, the compensation shall not exceed an amount equal to ten times the fee charged for the service in question, provided that the maximum compensation shall never exceed USD 2 million.

In this provision "DNV" shall mean the Foundation Det Norske Veritas as well as all its subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, agents and any other acting on behalf of Det Norske Veritas.

A 200   Use by other parties

   These rules are under the sole ownership rights and copy-rights of the Society. It is prohibited by anyone else than the Society to offer and/or perform classification or other services, wholly or partly, on the basis of and/or pursuant to these rules. The Society is not responsible for the consequences arising from the possible un-authorised use of the Rules by others.

   These rules, the classification of the vessel and the relationship between DNV and other parties shall be governed by Norwegian law.

   Any dispute arising in relation to or as a consequence of these rules shall only be resolved by the courts of Norway, the Municipal Court of Oslo being the proper venue.
